Current Internship Positions

 

1) Youth Philanthropist


Youth philanthropists in the BLING program will impact social change in the San Francisco by providing grants to youth-led social justice projects. Throughout their time in the program, youth philanthropists will engage in comprehensive social justice training, while developing their skills in: leadership, creativity, teamwork, community building, and public speaking. As a youth philanthropist, you will advocate for the city’s most important social justice issues and uplift youth voice in spaces where their voices are typically unheard.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Engage in comprehensive social justice training. Before giving away money, youth will develop basic understanding of a plethora of social justice issues

  2. Facilitate two grant cycles. Youth will conduct grant outreach, review grant applications, conduct interviews, and make final funding decisions.

  3. Fund $100,000 in grant funding to youth-led social justice projects

  4. Build community with other youth!

  5. Engage in extra program activities: field trips, community service, conferences, etc.

Program Dates

The BLING Program will start September 15, 2022. Youth philanthropists will meet twice a week during the months of September-October for intensive capacity building.

Program will take place every Tuesday & Thursday from 5:00pm-7:00pm OR 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm. (Program hours are subject to change if program switches to in-person model)

After October, program will shift to include less weekly hours.

Who Should Apply

  • High school students, or youth 13-19 for youth not in high school.

  • Youth that are passionate for social justice

  • Youth that have a strong desire to create change and fight for equity/equality

  • Youth from all backgrounds, and neighborhoods

  • Youth that like to, or would like to develop community

  • Youth with dedication and time to commit


Compensation

  1. Stipend Pay: TBA

  2. Other Pay: Youth will be compensated for overtime spent working at the BLING program

  3. Travel (after COVID-19): Clipper Card for travel to and from BLING

  4. Snacks: Snacks provided at each meeting
