Our Grants
The BLING grant is a monetary grant that funds youth-led social justice project in San Francisco. All funding decisions are made by a cohort of youth philanthropists. It’s a grant for you given to youth. In giving out grant funding to youth-led project, BLING hopes to uplift youth voice and address inequity in the San Francisco community.
At this time, BLING’s main grant deadlines have passed. Currently we are accepting grant applications on a rolling basis until March 10th, 2022 11:59pm. Grants will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Projects may apply for the $5,000 mini grant, or the $10,000 large project grant. Please note that in the case of receiving a large amount of excellent project proposals, BLING will prioritize $5,000 mini grants in our funding decisions.
Grant Eligibility & Requirements
Social Justice Based
BLING only accepts projects that are designed to address inequity, injustice, and oppression. (See below to see what “types of projects/project methods” are acceptable.)
We welcome all social justice issues!
Youth Created & Youth-Led
BLING only accepts projects designed and implemented by youth groups. NO EXCEPTIONS.
San Francisco Based
BLING only funds projects that are designed to have their impact based in San-Francisco. We welcome projects to have extended impact, however, the bulk of your project must be based in San Francisco. (The definition of “bulk” changes based on each project’s individual design.)
Youth Centered
BLING only funds projects that uplift youth voice. This does not mean your project cannot serve adults in some capacity. However, the primary focus of your project should be youth. It should be youth centered.
Project Type / Method For Achieving Justice
All project types are welcome! We’re looking for your innovative and creative solutions for solving social justice issues. So start a campaign, create an invention, lead workshops, organize a festival, etc. Your project is as big as your imagination!
What We’re Looking For
BLING is looking for originality, and creativity. We are looking for projects with strong desire, and high hopes for improving SF communities. We aim for groups that bring creativity and innovation, have clear goals, have, clear steps for success, display confidence in their project, and display their passion for fighting social inequity.
BLING is looking for youth from all walks of life! Seriously! Anyone with the right amount of passion, and thoughtful ideas can create social change.
